A library and a reader for it
Calibre-Web puts a browsable, searchable front end on a Calibre library and sends books straight to a Kindle by email. Kavita is the better reader — a genuinely good in-browser one — and handles comics and manga, which Calibre never did well. They read the same folders, so running both costs very little.

ebooksInstalling it
Open the dashboard, find it in the App Store and press Install. Or from a terminal on the box:
sudo homebox install ebooks
Where to open it
| Service | Port | First login |
|---|---|---|
| Calibre-Web Calibre library front end | :8083 | Ships with admin / admin123 built in. Change it immediately — this is a default, not a generated password. |
| Kavita Ebook, comic and manga reader | :5002 | The first account you create on the first visit becomes the admin. |
Open it at your box's address with that port — the dashboard links to it directly once it is running.
Good to know
- Calibre-Web needs an existing Calibre metadata.db in the books folder — it reads a Calibre library, it does not create one. Kavita just reads folders
- Calibre-Web's default login is admin / admin123. Change it on the first visit, before anything else
- Send-to-Kindle needs an SMTP server filled in under Calibre-Web's admin settings; without it the button is there and silently does nothing
