A dedicated Project Zomboid server. The world keeps decaying, the power grid still fails on schedule and the base you fortified is where you left it — whether or not anybody is playing. Which is rather the point of a survival game about time passing.

Installing it

Open the dashboard, find it in the App Store and press Install. Or from a terminal on the box:

sudo homebox install zomboid

Good to know

• First start downloads the game from Steam and builds the world — several minutes before anything answers
• Join from the game with the LAN address and port 16261. Both published ports are UDP
• Server settings live in the module config as an .ini file. Edit it while the server is stopped, or it is overwritten on shutdown
• Zomboid keeps the entire loaded map in memory. 4GB is the working floor for a handful of players
